SPECTATOR NOT AUDIENCE!!!

Mr. Gerano said last Friday that you don’t call audience your audience when they are watching a play or skit because audience means listener obviously for the root word audio or listen but instead you call them spectators because from the root word spect means to see so spectator because they are watching a play or skit but if it is a concert event then you call them audience because they listen to the music or songs. That’s another new thing I learned form the class of Mr. Gerano aside from using the word TOILET instead of C.R. ( Comfort Room ) or rest room .

March for Life!!!

Yesterday, we had a march rally regarding in disapproving for the RH Bill to be implemented. So we assembled in DE PAUL COLLEGE and there are also other schools with us such as the Colegio De San Jose, Iloilo Central Commercial High School, SAGRADO and etc. So we marched or parade from DE PAUL going to the Jaro Plaza Gym but we didn’t proceed directly inside instead we marched around the plaza and there we went inside the Jaro Plaza Gym. And there we had a mass and it was no that successful because the microphone was not working well and as well as the sound system. So we just let the mass go on led by Bishop Almenazi and the Knights of Columbus and then after the mass we went home immediately because if we will still stay we could go home around 6 p.m. because we are still going to listen to the speakers and attend the program. So we just went home without any learning about their side in implementing the RH Bill which we are going to make a reaction paper about. Unfortunately, we went home because if we will stay we still can’t hear and understand because as I said earlier the sound system and the microphone is not working well.

Fire Dance Practices!!

This March 11, 2011, we, the C.S.E.P. Scholars of Assumption Socio- Educational Center Barrio Obrero (ASEC), will welcome the French Sponsors during our cultural night at this date and the program includes the different dances of the Philippines performed by the C.S.E.P. scholars from first year high school to fourth year college. And for us, second year, we will dance the fire dance so every afternoon from the class and every Saturday and Sunday we are practicing for the fire dance and it was so tiring, imagine now also that we are practicing for the field demo here in Assumption- Iloilo and then when I go home I just change my clothes and then proceed again to ASEC for the fire dance practice and we usually end at 8:00 p.m. so, what if there are still assignments, mastery tests and quizzes for the next day.!!! OH!!!!! I just imagined how I can manage my time!! You will probably think why do I practice fire dance, right? And if there’s nothing in return? If you thought of that then now you will know. So here it goes, I studied in ASEC since my pre-school and grade school life and graduated there but if I am not a C.S.E.P. scholar there, by the way with me are Louise Evasco and Blessa Chiquito, I couldn’t study there because we can’t afford also the tuition there but good thing that I am a scholar there so, my French sponsor pays half from my tuition and she sends me extra money sometimes especially during Christmas and of course letters, by the way her name was Roselyne Macario. I am thankful that she is there to support me from my studies and so when she died last year November, I wept because she contributed a lot in my studies because if she is not supporting me since I am in grade school, I could not study here also in Assumption- Iloilo as a scholar again and pays only for the miscellaneous so, I wondered when she is not sending me any letter anymore before she died only that I knew she already died and fortunately, her daughter accepted her commitment to me in giving me allowance every month. So, I was also thankful to her also. So that’s the story why I am practicing for Fired Dance.

Embarrassing Moment!!

In LITMUS specifically in Binalaybay, which I don’t want to recall anymore because I was so embarrassed and I disappointed Mr. Guintivano because I admit that I wasn’t that prepared and it was so obvious with my attire during the contest even me I can’t understand what my attire looks. Actually, I was just given two days to memorize the whole 15 stanzas but I only memorized the piece just the day before the LITMUS contest but it doesn’t mean that I am blaming already Mr. Guintivano who made the piece and just gave it to me two days before because I think he forgot last Christmas Vacation that he said to me that he will be the one who will make the piece and not me so I didn’t make but a week before the Intramurals, he told me if I memorized my piece already and I was surprised because I thought he would do it for me because he said so before the vacation and so he admit that he forgot and he asked me if I can make and I said I don’t know how to especially it is in Hiligaynon and it was so deep but I said I will try also and if possible, I would just hire a person who would do it also for me because I was so busy and I don’t know also how to make but unfortunately, I didn’t find one. So by the time I will present, at first I was so confident but there’s a word that made me confused because I can’t pronounce it well and added by my nervous I forgot the rest of the paragraphs and I tried to make up but I can’t because I was already shivering and so I just ended it and came back to my seat thinking that I disappointed my tribe and our tribe advisers so, I asked for their forgiveness and I felt everyone laughed at me and I thought that what if I would not go to school anymore because I felt that the world is laughing at me every time I pass by them. But, I was encouraged by my mother that I would not lose hope and continue life. Hehehehehehehe!!....  Anyways, back to the story so before I joined the LITMUS contest I was first a cheer leader of the Tribe C when our tribe has a game and I almost lose my voice so I stopped because I was afraid that I could lose my voice before the LITMUS so I just silently watched the games and just jump as a sign that I am cheering too

Intramurals 2011!!

The Intramurals of the Year 2011 was a success. I belong to the tribe of Asher or Tribe C and for me we really deserve to be in the second place next to the first placer, the Manasseh Tribe that the amazing Mr. Pedroso belongs to and we admit that they are really good and they did their best especially when there is a dance competition like the Field Demo and the Ethnic Dance, they were so prepared with all the props and costumes. Anyways, every afternoon I am always excited to dance for the filed demo so everyday I feel that I am just going to school just to practice for our field demo and that was so funny of me. Actually, I wasn’t able to join the ball games only in LITMUS specifically in Binalaybay, which I don’t want to recall anymore because I was so embarrassed and I disappointed Mr. Guintivano because I admit that I wasn’t that prepared and it was so obvious with my attire during the contest even me I can’t understand what my attire looks. Hehehehehehehe!!....  Anyways, back to the story so before I joined the LITMUS contest I was first a cheer leader of the Tribe C when our tribe has a game and I almost lose my voice so I stopped because I was afraid that I could lose my voice before the LITMUS so I just silently watched the games and just jump as a sign that I am cheering too. So that’s all for the Intramurals 2011.

Running for Assistant P.R.O.!!!

Running for the position of Assistant P.R.O is very difficult especially when you have an opponent who’s very influential because of her sisters in the other levels. At first, I don’t want to run because my mother is worried about the stress that would give me for this responsibility if ever I will win but then I was encouraged by Mrs. Simpas because she said that if I am part of the L-CBA at the present I am expected to run also for a position for the next new set of L-CBA next school year. So, I ran for the position and campaigned all over the high school department except the whole first year and the fourth year because I forgot that we have a campaign so, I wasn’t able to campaign to them anyways I am a part of the Transition Party which means transition because from the word itself means a change of state, we chose because the theme for the next school year is change maybe in terms of caring for mother nature, social changes, mental changes or emotional changes. The other party named CGO PAR party was I admit very good in terms of their platform for the next school year and very committed on campaigning every silence period. So, when the Election Day came I was not that nervous because I knew already I would lose because my opponents are Kylie Cravajal and Arianna Melgar. So, I lose and Kylie won and the rest of their members in CGO PAR Party and we are happy for them as a sign of sportsmanship.

Travelogue of Year 2 2011!!

Last March 3, 2011 (Thursday), we had a program in show casing the lessons we learned last month. So, the program includes the presenting of the Investigatory projects, Sayawit, Skits or presentations of both French and Spanish Classes, also the Travelogue and Verse Choir. First of all the French Class presented a skit directed by our dear classmate of Year 2- St. Anne, Princess Dalayawon, which we all can’t understand of course because it was in French language but it was great only that their voice projections are not that loud enough for us to hear at the back. Next, the Spanish Class presented and sang a song which is also in Spanish language led also by our classmate Andrea Bernadas. Then, the presenters of the SIP or the Science Investigatory Project that includes the representative for the whole second year the presenters of Year 2- St. Catherine, they were chose because their project is very good that can helped In reducing air pollution in our country, the used of chalk dust as fire extinguisher so they did it very well. And the other SIP presenters followed and they were also good especially the first year students who presented the balloon that would not explode when struck by the pointed stick and it was awesome. So after the presenters of the SIP, the presenters of the travelogues followed and that includes me that represents the whole second year and introduces Iran to the spectators. And so we began by playing the national anthem of Iran or the so-called Persia from the ancient time. And then we spoke our lines and the funny thing was that Aurora forgot her line because she was destructed by the third year learners according to her and the spotlight people were, I think surprised and laughed out loud that they forgot to just turn the spotlight to the next person so when it happened Aurora got her copy and said it again and so the others followed after her and that includes me and the presentation goes on and the dancers of Year 2- St. Anne danced namely, Becha, Angela and etc. and also there are dancers from St. Elizabeth led by Anne Therese Yee.

Field Demo Practices!!

We are practicing for our field demo every afternoon and good thing that we have Princess as our classmate… Hehehehehe!!!  because without her we would not have learned any steps for our music but then she is our classmate so we are thankful for that but also some of our classmates too like Angela, me, Krizza and etc. helped her out on making steps for our field demo. We have some few steps but then it is not yet complete so now we are panicking on how we will present our field demo on Monday and so we said, It is now on each one of us hand on how to do it on Monday because we lack time on practicing for we are busy on other things such as projects, assignments, studying for the mastery tests and quizzes and etc. Practicing for our field demo is really a memorable and happy moment in our lives because we get to learn and discover our talents especially in dancing and speaking of discoveries, I was really amazed by the actions of Princess last few weeks from now because as we all know Princess was a very quiet girl but when we need to learn steps, we discovered that Princess had a great talent on dancing and she is a potential choreographer because of the steps she is making and also krizza or Kristine and Karla, I discovered that they also have a hidden talent in dancing.

Food Sale 2011!!

Our food sale from my group was not that successful because we encountered many unexpected things such as lacking of food to sell because of the people who tried to abuse our kindness to them, if you don’t know what I mean……. It’s a secret and I am trying to forgive them because if this event did not happen we could have met our expected profit but unfortunately we did not. Anyways, it is also not that successful because Justine’s coins for change purposes was mixed up with our own money from the food sale so, I had a hard time adjusting our income statement which will be passed to Mrs. Encena and another thing why it is not that successful because we are panicking and our heads are aching during the food sale. But we admit that we really enjoyed and we still gained profit even if it is just a small amount for each of us.

No to RH Bill or House Bill No. 96

I can say that there are positive and negative effects to us Filipinos if they implement this bill for example on the positive effects, is that our population and poverty rate as Filipinos will truly decrease because our women nowadays would have enough knowledge about having enough or more children if they will implement this bill but depending to their income whether both of them as parents have work that can support a big family and many children. Unfortunately, for those parents who don’t have enough income for having a big family is a major problem especially for both of the parents don’t have jobs or income so the solution of the government to this problem is to implement this bill that encourages couples to use contraceptives in controlling our population. Another is that, the controversial disease now that is spreading through sexual intercourse, the AIDS or the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome or maybe the not so common disease which is the Genital Herpes that I just learned few weeks ago in our Biology Class that this disease is a result of having many sex partners. So, the solution of our government that was approved by the Pope in order to prevent these diseases to conquer the world is through implementing also the RH Bill which is, as I said earlier, encouraging couples to use contraceptives such as condoms ad etc…. And for these reasons I can say that they also have points in implementing this bill.
There are also negative effects in implementing this bill, for example this bill takes away limited government funds from treating many high priority medical and food needs and transfers them to fund harmful and deadly devices. This statement also has a point because as we all know there are more problems in our society that needs more attention aside from dealing or solving things such as big population, diseases and etc. if they can’t control on dealing with these things they must have at least balance attention on all the problems our society are now facing. Also one of the negative effects is that it promotes sex education of the youth which promoters themselves have considered as having brought about more teenage pregnancies and fatherless kids. This statement also has a point because if our government now would implement this bill our teenagers would have the tendency to depend on the contraceptives and would think that sex is now legal and you can do it any time you want so as a result there are more teenage pregnancies and fatherless kids.
If you will ask me about my opinion in implementing this bill, I can say that, I still don’t agree in implementing this bill because it is our choice if we want to have many enough or few children only and also it is the choice of the teenagers now if they want to use their reproductive organ first before their brains and hearts if they love someone that they are now into or not and if they care or not about their future.

Think Beyond what is asked! C.L.E. Reflection Paper

I admit that these passed years of celebrating Christmas, in my mind when I hear the word Christmas the word that comes instantly in my mind is the word GIFT because every Christmas, I am really expecting many gifts and I don’t really think about the true meaning of celebrating Christmas but instead, I am thinking of my own happiness but my experience during this Christmas Vacation is that, I realized that giving of gifts and preparing for foods during the Christmas are not the important focus of this significant occasion but rather the recognizing of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem Starting from the afternoon of December 18, 2010 and after our Christmas party, as a part of the LCB-A, we helped or participated during the fellowship day that afternoon where in all our partner barangays and schools were present to enjoy our games with lots of prizes like 1 kilo of rice and sugar, a box of milk, a bar of soap, a pack of coffee and etc. they are also there to enjoy the food we and the teachers prepared and to receive our gifts for them or rather for every family that attended and participated there. Our hosts, Ms. Adrias and Sir. Secular, really contributed a lot in making the people there who attended smile and laugh out loud because of their jokes and dances and etc. So after all, the games, the eating ,the dances and etc., we, the LCB-A and the teachers gave out our little gifts where it includes a 3 kilos of rice, I think, cans of sardines, noodles, coffees, candies and etc. and of course our shoeboxes where the goodies like dresses, toys and foods are stored inside the boxes. From that they on, I am not expecting that I could really enjoy serving the people there and I realized that It’s better to give than really to receive. And from that day on and the passed days, while watching the programs and advertisements in the television that, Christmas, is a season of giving and forgiving because from the channel that I watched on they really organized a program for their actors and actresses to enjoy the true meaning of Christmas by helping their partner communities but there are challenges that they are going to pass through before they can get the awards for their partner communities includes 1000 pairs of shoes, 100 bikes for the children, 500 sacks of rice and etc…. And because of these challenges the true meaning of Christmas was actually getting step by step in the hearts of the actors and actresses and also to the viewers of that T.V. program including me. The advertisements also helped me to discover what is really the true meaning of Christmas especially the togetherness of the members of the families, these advertisements led me to think that Christmas also is a season of unity and love between families and also to others. But, from the pass Christmas and New Year, me and my family is really celebrating these significant occasions with my other relatives not just with my family but with our relatives too.

Exhausted for the Year 2011!!

From returning to school last January from a Christmas vacation up to now, we really had a hectic schedule because of the activities, requirements, payments and etc. We, the second year learners, really wondered why we are the busiest year level from the whole high school department one of these things that we are busy of is the National Achievement Test for us second year learners this coming March 10, 2011 and so these past few weeks we already started to review in all the subjects that we are going to take up during the NAT Test. Furthermore, we are also busy with practicing for our field demo in our P.E. Class every afternoon and thinking for the steppings is not a joke because it’s too hard especially for field demo, good if only plain hip hop and etc. Another busy thing we are into is that, the projects, assignments and requirements and of course studying for mastery tests and quizzes and for the up coming exams. Sometimes, I would to say to myself that I don’t want anymore to study because I’m tired and I want to rest because everyday my back was aching and as well as my head because of over thinking.

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough!

Last February 24, 2011 (Thursday) we had an excursion to Ajuy specifically in Camp Regulus and Gawad Kalinga. I think this is the most memorable field trip ever in my life not just because my flat shoes was torn and my toe was already seen but it is the most memorable because we really crawled up to the top of the mountain because the pathway is really steep and slippery depending to the kind of shoes you are using and we also broke the record that the past second year learners did that is reaching only up to the big tree and not climbing further to the top but us we, without knowing where to stop, succeeded to almost reach the top – almost because Abby or the tourist boy said when we almost reach the top that there’s no way to continue our journey but for me, I think he forgot only the way because there are still ways, the wide and the narrow one so, when he said that there’s no more way we stopped immediately and went down again going to the cottage or the house down the mountain. Unfortunately, we needed again to pass through the steep and slippery pathway going down and the funny thing is that most of us especially me slipped accidentally and everyone screamed because of nervous and laughed so, we had a great time there. After going down from the mountain, we immediately packed our things up and that’s the time I lost my hand towel and my mother scolded me for that anyways we immediately went to our bus and went to the Gawad kalinga location and there the staff ad of course the daughter of the mayor there, Isabella Alvarez, welcomed us warmly and offered us food such as “ Ginat-an “, corn, Kalamay hati and etc. after the program prepared by the staff and the beneficiaries there. And after that, we went home with big smiles on our faces. But wait, I haven’t told you yet that the water on the waterfall we found there tastes very good and sweet and it is so cool to the skin. Anyways, that’s all we did while on an excursion.

Gifts!!

I received a lot of gifts and that includes the body spray, three sets of dresses, a pair of shoes, bags, and chocolates.

Christmas!!

Our Christmas was a happy Christmas because I received a lot of gifts from my aunts and uncles aside from that of course money, hehehhehe!! But my focus is that my cousins from Manila came and they celebrated their Christmas here with us and so it was happy especially the way the twins play and roam around, you would really get tird of watching them. :)))

New Year, brownout?

We celebrated our New Year with a brownout and so we were sad because we just lit some of our fireworks and then sleep because as I said of brownout and our surroundings were so noisy explosion here, there and everywhere!! How sad!!!! But then, in the morning of January 1, we went swimming with all our relatives in Sol Y Mar Beach Resort, in Tigbauan and so the sadness that happened to us that last night was filled by the happiness we experienced during our stay in that beach resort!!! :)
