November 30, 2010, Early morning after our short morning praise, we started to prepare ourselves for the play in CAF after the section of Catherine because we picked the second part of the story of Franciso Balagtas which is the Florante at Laura. Early morning all of us felt nervous but also excited to perform especially to those who have roles, everyone is busy in changing their clothes, putting on their make-ups, making our props and starting to move them to the St. Anne’s Hall to be ready to use, buying Cartolinas and pins in the bookstore, styling their hairs and many more, even me I am busy changing my clothes and putting on make-ups that would fit to me as one of the “ tsismosas” during the time of Florante at Laura. One funny thing that I realized while I am changing my clothes into a ruffled white dress and when I looked on the mirror, I laughed at myself because I looked like an old woman but I don’t have a choice but to wear it because it is already our final play and I don’t have enough time to change and look for another dress, I am thinking, why are we going to wear gowns as “tismosas” during the time of Florante at Laura? Uhmmmm… I realized that instead of wearing those gowns we should wear “ Dasters” or “ Bestidas “. Before our play starts, we agreed that before starting the two plays, we must pray first and do some tension exercises in order for us not to panic backstage which is the major reason why some plays fail to win because of panic and being absent- minded but we do some exercise to lessen or overcome those tensions in ourselves. After a half hour, it is now our turn to perform , everyone is cooperating and calm when we went in all of us carried all our props and helped moving them, then we started to perform and so scenes went through smoothly but also there are times when they skip some of the characters’ lines and sometimes they don’t know where to exit and enter and also what to do but then thank you to CHRISTIE SALDANA who really worked hard to be as funny as she could as Menandro, the best friend/ classmate/ like brother and etc……, she pulled some of my classmates’ mistakes. Our Florante and Laura have the chemistry so they are comfortable to each other and they act together very well. When it is the time we need to go out as the “ tsimosas “ I really heard many people who were shocked because they can’t believe that I was one of those “ tsimosas “ and I heard that they can’t recognize me as Rhosebhet especially the 3rd year learners and I asked myself, Is my make-up that really thick and ugly? “ Hehehheheh!! I laughed at myself just in my mind!! And then when we are about to end Florante must be captured and tied in the tree by the soldiers of Adolfo, unfortunately, the curtains didn’t close and also the lights on the right wing ( actor’s point of view ) and another is that no one was about to captured Florante so Angela and Justine take into Action in order to fill up supposed to be the dead scene because the soldiers who were supposed to capture Florante forgot to capture him so the two of them take into action and they were like tornados roaming around the stage and also our Florante probably because they don’t expect it to happen but still they coped up and the scene goes on and then after Florante’s monologue, that is the signal where we end our performance and it was successful and again we shouted because of happiness. We are very thankful to our beloved directress who is really following up the characters and the crew about the progress of our play. And we are really proud of her!!! THANK YOU, PRINCESS!!!
